Thanks for the fascinating videos, but I am just a newbe at science looking for practical ways to get off the grid and light-up and heat-up my dark and chilly cabin … can you tell me how to put this solar source to some practical use other than burning up my damaged kitchen ware? I’m running out of pots to burn up!

Camera man had wielding goggles on and hand held a special filter to protect the CCD in the camera from the intense light. Check out our latest videos shot with our Canon XHA1:-) It has manual F stop, shutter and a neutral density filter. Helps a lot. :-) Thank for the comment.

If you go slowly focusing the fresnel over concrete probably you will melt it; but if you focus the lens on the surface and you move suddenly along the surface probably you will hear concrete cracking like “pop corn”. I have done that before. Congratulations You are doing a wonderful work.

To break concrete you need to heat for a few minutes and apply water. If the melting point of you rocks are below 2000f yes.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
    Thank You:-)

With a fresnell lens it is possible to break concrete almost instantaneously, and to fuse small volcanic rocks.

I used to cook hamburgers in five minutes putting the meat between the fresnell and the focus, I recommend You the solar flavor, is delicious.

wow i find this amazing, the power of the sun.
i was looking at solar ovens, and thought it would be good to have one of those.
just imagine if you could use that energy to heat a tank of water. like the hot water for the house.

Actually “melting” zinc is not dangerous, but you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about “burning” it. Since we are always outside because of the sun, it is only a concern when there is no breeze. Zinc is a lot safer than lead as lead is stored in the tissue vs. being flushed like excessive zinc. Most wielders are warned about wielding galvanized sheets because of the zinc oxide fumes. Lead is not mentioned because there is no reason to wield it. THANK YOU, I will add warning!

hey dude that zinc gas will give you brain damage just in case you decide to do that in a less ventilated area.

    Hi,
Two ways. 1 You could power a Sterling Engine that turns a generator or steam production using the same principal. 2 would be to enhance photovoltaic solar panels. The later is more reasonable for now. We are building some large engines that run off of heat, once they get up to speed I will have some videos of that. Thank You for the question.
